The Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department battled a house fire in Lakesite on Friday morning.

A Chattanooga Police officer called 911 at 8 a.m. and reported heavy smoke coming from a house at 100 Dallas Place. The Dallas Bay VFD responded and arrived on the scene reporting heavy smoke coming from the front of the house.

A mutual aid response for additional manpower was requested and the Red Bank Fire Department responded to the scene. Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department Chief Markus Fritts reported, “Flames came pouring out the front windows when firefighters broke the windows to ventilate the residence.“

Another went into the house to extinguish the fire and search for victims. No one was inside except a cat which they were able to rescue with no injuries.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. No injuries were reported, but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for any potential injuries to firefighters. Damages are listed at $60,000.

The American Red Cross was notified to take care of the homeowner’s immediate needs.
