Akins, Buddy Lebron

Buddy Lebron Akins, 84, of Chattanooga, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018. He has been a resident of the Chattanooga area for 73 years and was of the Baptist faith. Buddy was a Mason and a Shriner. He enjoyed woodworking, making knife handles, golfing and fishing. 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Charlie Glenn; son, Steve Akins; daughter, Angela Akins; and great-grandchildren, Hope and Patience.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Wilma Akins; brother, Bob Robert Glenn; sister, Faye (Rob) Ives, of Chattanooga; sons, Gary (Aimee) Akins and Curtis Akins, of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Erica (Cory) Hall, of Chattanooga; and great-grandchildren, Cruz and Finn Hall.

Funeral services will be at noon on Monday in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Billy Lowery officiating. Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Marilyn Lloyd, who represented the Third District in Congress for 10 terms, has died at the age of 89. Ms. Lloyd got into politics after her husband, TV anchor Mort Lloyd, was killed in a plane crash in 1974. Mort Lloyd had won the Democratic primary to oppose Rep. Lamar Baker. A Soddy Daisy couple reported a theft at their residence netted thieves over $56,000 in items.
