Upcoming Street Closings Announced For Special Events And Construction

Here are upcoming street closings for special events:

Wednesday: 

After Hours Event in West Village - W 8th Street between Pine Street and Chestnut Street will be closed on Wednesday from 4-9 p.m.
This closure will be in effect each Wednesday evening through Jan. 30. 
 
 Tuesday:
 
S. Watkins Street, between 18th Street and 17th Street, and E. 17th Street, between Dodds Avenue and S. Watkins, will be closed for building demolitions from Tuesday until Friday, Feb. 1. Detours will be posted.

Center Street will be closed at 2316 Center Street, between Shallowford Road and Lee Highway, from Tuesday until Saturday for a piping job. Detours will be posted.

Friday:

West Village Out on 8th  - W 8th Street between Pine Street and Chestnut Street will be closed on Friday, from 2- p.m. until  8 a.m. on Saturday.   

Saturday:

West Village Street Festivals -  Pine Street between W 7th Street and W M.L. King Blvd, and 
8th Street between Pine Street and Chestnut Street will be closed from 8 a.m. until midnight each Saturday through Jan. 19
   
Chattanooga Women's March 2019 - The Chattanooga Women’s March event will be held on Jan. 19 at 11 a.m. in Coolidge Park. This year the event will be a rally in the park only, there will not be a march portion of the event. 

Monday, Jan. 21:

49th Annual M.L. King March & Parade - Parade participants will assemble at 3 p.m. at Peeples St and E MLK Blvd. (Olivet Baptist Church, 740 MLKing Blvd.) and at 4 p.m. they will march to The Tivoli Theatre (1 mile). 

E. M.L. King Boulevard from Georgia Ave. to Magnolia St., the westbound lanes of M.L. King Boulevard from Broad Street to Georgia Ave., the southbound lanes of Broad Street between 7th Street and M.L.King Boulevard, and Peeples St. will be closed from 3-5:30 p.m. Detours will be posted and the Chattanooga Police Department will be on site to help direct traffic during the parade.
