A county school employee has been suspended after being arrested for allegedly wielding a machete against a man.

Trishonda Ballard is facing a charge of aggravated assault in General Sessions Court.

A man told police he was at work at the Erlanger Hospital campus on E. 3rd Street when he was contacted by his girlfriend, Brianna Derrick.

He said he found that Ms. Derrick was removing some of his belongings into a car driven by her friend, Ms. Ballard. He said he began to take the items out of the car and placed them on the ground.

He said he was saying good bye to his children, who were in the back seat of Ms. Ballard's car, when Ms. Derrick pushed him. He said he and the girlfriend then got into a verbal altercation.

At that point, he said Ms. Ballard retrieved a machete from the trunk of her car. He said the machete made contact with the back of his hand, but he was not cut.

A witness told of seeing the machete being wielded toward the man.

School officials said Ms. Ballard has been working as an educational assistant.
