County Commission Backs Bill To Ban Smoking In Public Parks

  • Wednesday, February 20, 2019

The County Commission on Wednesday approved a resolution supporting a bill in the Legislature that would ban smoking in public parks.

The vote was unanimous.

In another matter, the commission rescinded its action of making attorney Bill Hall a part-time magistrate.

The panel recently approved attorneys Hall and Rodney Strong as fill-in magistrates.

Commissioner Chester Bankston said attorney Hall had been advised that he could not continue to practice law while doing the work.

The magistrates set bonds and sign warrants from an office at the county jail. The fill-in magistrates work when there is an illness or vacation.

Attorney Bob Davis also works as a fill-in magistrate.
