Lady Vols Fall To UCLA, 89-77, In NCAA First Round

  • Saturday, March 23, 2019

The UT Lady Vols got off to a slow start and wound up in a 12-point loss to UCLA in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

UCLA, the #6 seed, won 89-77 at College Park, Md.

It ends a frustrating season for coach Holly Warlick who had a 7-9 conference record and just barely made it to the tournament. Tennessee has never failed to make it to the Big Dance.

The Bruins roared out to a 17-point lead.

The Lady Vols were still down 44-32 at halftime.

Tennessee went on a strong run in the third quarter as UCLA missed nine straight shots. The Lady Vols had a brief lead, but had several costly turnovers down the stretch.
