Paul Ruben Jones, Sr., 84, was born on August 7, 1934, to the late Leona and Owen Jones, Sr. in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He passed away on May 16, 2019.
He was a retired custodian from the Hamilton County Department of Education. He also worked at Fleetwood Coffee Company and Booker T. Washington State Park. He was a faithful member of St. Peters Missionary Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. Paul was a loving father and grandfather, and will be missed dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leona and Owen Jones, Sr.; son, Winston “Mickey” Jones; and brother, Owen Jones, Jr.
Those left to cherish his loving memories include his loving wife, Estella Jones; daughters, Audrey Jones of Chattanooga, and Althea Thompson of Atlanta; son, Paul Jones, Jr.; sisters, Janette Williams, Chattanooga, Freda Simpson, Boston, Ma., Mary McGowan, Atlanta; brothers, Gregory Francisco, Boston MA and Leon Jones of CA; 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a host of other family and friends including Herman Evans, Jr., Gary Jones, and Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Roberson.
Mr. Jones will lie in state beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, at the funeral home. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will be in Summit Cemetery.
