Odessa Bradford
Odessa Lee Fowlkes Bradford, 86, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, in a nursing home in Birmingham, Alabama.
She attended Orchard Knob Junior High and graduated from Howard High School. She was a long-time member of Greater Second Missionary Baptist Church. She worked at Dot & Peg (later named Barry of Chattanooga) as a seamstress. After the plant closed, she worked as a custodian at TVA retiring in 1994. Later, she worked as a childcare worker at Cumberland Presbyterian Daycare. She moved to Alabama to live with her daughter and family in 2007.
Mrs. Bradford was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Bradford; parents, Edward and Dorothy Fowlkes, Sr.; brother, Edward Fowlkes, Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, Dianne (Reggie) McCann of Calera, Al,; grandchildren, Jonathan McCann of Nashville; Christopher McCann of Alabaster, Al., and Zachary McCann of Pelham, Al.; three great-grandchildren; brother, Nelson (Peggy) Fowlkes of Dublin, CA; sister, Doris Hamiel of Douglasville, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Mattie Fowlkes of Chattanooga and Juliet (Ray) Jackson of Montgomery, Al; a host of nephews; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 24, at 11 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home with the funeral to follow in the chapel at noon with Minister Ternae Jordan, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
