Life can be understood backwards but it must be lived forward. Times are changing everyday, better technology, healthier food, more advancements in modern medicine, even self driving cars. But one thing that is a constant from times of past is gun violence.
History shows us that guns bring power and bring down the powerful. Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy Jr., Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X just to name a few. Lives ended with a gun.
Americans believe there is more power in violence than anything. We want to be heard and respected but above all feared.
Police officers come to the job with a gun for protection. A gang member comes outside with a gun for protection. A licensed carrier comes outside with a gun for protection. A student being bullied at school needs a gun for protection. At least they assume they need protection.
We live in America, a country that was established by gun violence. Our history reflects a history of power through violence. We have military bases on every continent, not one country has their military here. We bully and throw power around with weaponry so how can we not expect our people to live their lives with that same approach.
Studying history violence is a part of the American way of life. Remember your rights, first you have a freedom of speech, second a right to bear arms. So say what you want but you could end up shot. This the American way.

If not for the patriots being armed you'd be bowing to the queen today. You call it gun violence...I call it liberty and freedom.
