Police Blotter: Sleepy Waffle House Waitresses And Nuisance Sport Bike Riders

An officer responded to an unconscious person at the BP at 8935 Lee Highway. He found a woman who said she works third shift at the Waffle House and had fallen asleep because she had just gotten off of work. She appeared to be okay and was sent on her way home.

Then on Elam Lane, officers observed a blue Pontiac Sunfire at the dead end of the road. Upon contact officers observed a woman sleeping in the vehicle. She said she is a new employee of the Waffle House up the street. She said her residence is too far for the continuous drive, therefore she parks and sleeps where she can. The sleepy Waffle House employee "was cooperative and stated she would relocate."

Police checked out suspicious Activity at 434 Chestnut St. Upon arrival officers were approached by a complainant who said he spotted unknown objects underneath his vehicle and thought they might be cameras. Upon further investigation one object underneath his vehicle was a magnetic light left by a mechanic and the other was a mouse trap.

At 1230 Poplar St., police were told that a dark sedan drove up to the sidewalk on Ridgeway property near the office. A black female then exited the vehicle. She placed several items on the sidewalk and then drove away. The items turned out to be a black Compaq Laptop computer and  a silver Phillips video projector. The owner of the items is unknown at this time.

There was vandalism at Wilsonia Avenue. A woman said she had just bought the home and that this was her first day moving in. When she entered the house, there were several holes in multiple rooms in the house. The cabinets in the kitchen had also been pulled down or over. A rear bedroom window had been broken, as well as a door inside the home had a few glass panes broken out of it. The new homeowner showed the officer pictures that she had taken two weeks prior where there was no damage to the property.

Police initiated a traffic stop at 200 River St. after officers observed a red sport bike operating on the roadway without a display of registration. Contact was made with operator Tarik Humphrey Twitty. Police said, "Due to previous experience with these sport bikes fleeing from officers, officer requested Mr Humphrey Twitty step off the motorcycle. Officers conducted their investigation and determined the motorcycle was registered. Due to Mr. Humphrey Twitty's cooperation and not fleeing during the traffic stop, officers issued Mr. Humphrey Twitty warnings for the improper or non display of his registration as well as a warning for no proof of insurance. Mr. Humphry Twitty was let go after officers took photos of his bike and riding gear which are attached to this report. At this time it is not believed Mr. Humphrey Twitty is a part of the nuisance riders which have been wreaking havoc through the 'S' curves on Hixson Pike."

At Dollar General at 7345 Lee Highway, two black females got away with $200 in laundry detergent. They took off in a red Chevy Cruze with the license plate covered.

The manager of a roofing firm said on a Friday at midnight, a black or gray Chevy extended cab pickup truck was caught on camera pulling up to a pallet of shingles that were left at a church on Tunnel Boulevard for construction. The vehicle was occupied by two young black males who loaded around $2,000 worth of shingles that were for the church's roof. There did not appear to be a tag on the back of the vehicle.

A woman who lives on McBrien Road said she found out through Credit Karma that there was a credit card opened in her name without her permission. The unknown user of the credit card bought $7,461.00 worth of unknown items.

The owner of the Kanku's on Wilcox Boulevard showed an officer a photo of a black female on his phone. Her hand with a middle finger sticking up was covering her face on all of the pictures. He said he asked her if she was stealing and she said she was not. He asked her to leave, but she would not. So, he called the police. He also showed the officer a photo of her black Chevy Cruze's drive out tag.

A resident of Intermont Road  said he had gotten a phone call from someone stating their name was David Lugal and he was a public defense attorney in Ohio. The man said his grandson was in Ohio and that he had got in an accident, injured a lady and he was in jail. "David Lugal" told the man he would need $5,000 to clear everything off of his grandson’s record to get him out of jail. The man said he talked Mr. Lugal down to $1,300. David Lugal told him he would need to send the $1,300 through a MoneyGram and to also do the 10-minute cash pickup and that he would need to send it to Haiti. The man got the Money Gram and did it through the 10-minute cash pickup. The man said Mr. Lugal called back the next morning and stated that he was going to need $5,000 more because the lady his grandson hit was pregnant. The man then decided to call his grandson, and his grandson was here in Chattanooga and was never in Ohio or involved in an accident in Ohio.

Police spoke to a man who said his vehicle had just been stolen. He said he pulled into the Speedway on Highway 58 and went inside, leaving his vehicle running and unlocked. When he came back, he saw his vehicle being driven away with two young looking black males inside. One of the youths was wearing Navy blue Jordan's and a sweatshirt and the other had on a yellow rain jacket. Police afterward found the vehicle by an apartment building at another location on Highway 58. It was returned to the rightful owner.
