A closed door saved a house from suffering significant fire damage Tuesday afternoon.
At 3:45 pm, a 911 call was made reporting a house fire at 9221 Charbar Circle (East Brainerd area).
The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived on the scene reporting heavy smoke coming from the vents of the home. Firefighters quickly entered the home to find fire on the bedroom floor. Tri-Community VFD officials reported the closed door allowed the fire to burn itself out due to the lack of oxygen in the room. This method kept the fire from spreading throughout the entire house.
No injuries were reported but HCEMS was on the scene for any potential injuries to the firefighters.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and will be under investigation by the Tri-Community VFD Fire Marshal’s Office.
Fire officials reported damages to be around $10,000.
The homeowner was insured and will be staying with family.
