Donyell Holland
A Chattanooga man has been accused of aggravated burglary and aggravated assault after he allegedly broke into and attacked his ex-girlfriend on June 9.
According to police, Donyell Holland, 38, and the victim had broken up a few months prior, but he had continued to come to her residence to harass her. Holland would also text the victim and threaten her that way as well, it was stated.
On this date, he allegedly entered her home at 279 West 38 St. through an unlocked window. Holland then began to question her about where she had been and why she was just getting home.
She told him to leave, and then told Holland that she had an order of protection against him. Holland seemed to know she was lying, police said.
When she tried to leave her apartment, he prevented her from doing so. When she went out a side door and into the backyard, Holland allegedly punched her in the face.
After she fought back, Holland then went behind the victim and began choking her.
After Holland stopped, she got away and called the police.
Holland has a lengthy criminal history. Since 2015, he has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, driving on a revoked license, and multiple violations of probation and domestic assaults.
