Stephen McKinney, 22, Charged In May 12 Wreck That Killed Brent Thomas Johnson

A 22-year-old Summerville, Ga., man has been indicted for the traffic death of Brent Thomas Johnson, 24, of Chattanooga.

Stephen Jacob McKinney was indicted by the Hamilton County Grand Jury for vehicular homicide by intoxication, failure to maintain lane and DUI.

The fatal wreck happened May 12.

The indictment says McKinney had a blood alcohol content of .20 or more.

The drunk level is .08.

The single-vehicle crash happened around 4:29 a.m. on a Saturday at 7200 Noah Reid Road. The Ford F-150 being driven by McKinney left the roadway and struck a tree. The passenger was declared dead at the scene.

Mr. Johnson, who was the son of Diondra Pointer (Scott Moody) and Calvin (Tawanna) Johnson, Jr., graduated from Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High School in 2012 and received his certification in auto mechanics from Chattanooga State. He started his career at Nissan of Chattanooga and was an employee of VW of Chattanooga.

He had a six-year-old daughter, Kayanna Johnson.
