Dalton State Men's Soccer Unbeaten Streak Continues With Road Win At Trinity Baptist

  • Monday, September 23, 2019
Dalton State improved its unbeaten streak to eight matches with a 5-0 road win over Trinity Baptist (Fla.) in non-conference action in Jacksonville, Fla. on Saturday.

TBC played tough on the defensive end at the beginning of the match. Dalton State got their opportunities, but could not convert. That was until the 35' when Frank Herrera got a shot past Eagle goalkeeper Breshon Bradford for a 1-0 lead.

Little time passed before the second Roadrunner goal as Justin Reischer fired a shot above the keepers left in the 37' that found the back of the net for a 2-0 lead.
DS carried that advantage the final eight minutes of the half for a two-goal halftime lead.

Dalton State quickly got two more on the board in the second half as Zachary Perry scored in the 51', followed by Amin Saheb Ettabaa in the 57'. With a capable lead in hand, the Roadrunner defense ramped up and shut down any chance the Eagles had of scoring.

The last goal of the night went to Ricardo Merced in the 75' when he took the ball at midfield and finished in the bottom left corner of the goal. With the 5-0 win, Dalton State now has an unbeaten streak of eight matches with the lone loss of the season coming in the opening match against #25 Tennessee Wesleyan.

Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (7-1-1 overall) with the win, while Trinity Baptist (Fla.) falls to (0-6 overall) with the loss. Five Roadrunners scored on the day with Frank Herrera nothing the first goal in the 35', his third of the season. Justin Reischer collected his third goal in the 37'.

Zachary Perry and Amin Saheb Ettabaa also scored their third goals of the season in the 51' and 57' respectively, while Ricardo Merced scored for the first time in Navy and Silver in the 75'. Aaron Fraire collected the win and shared the success with Samuel Friare as the two combined on a shutout.

The Roadrunners outshot the Eagles 36-4 in the match and 17-0 on goal. Corner kicks went to Dalton State's advantage 4-0. Breshon Bradford and Kyle Aultman combined for 12 saves in net for Trinity Baptist.

Dalton State will get a solid seven days off before they hit the pitch again on Saturday, September 28 when they open SSAC play at home against Middle Georgia. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
