Herbert Johnson
Herbert A. Johnson, 91, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2020.
He was born on May 5, 1929, in Arab, Al., to the late Claude and Carrie Johnson and was preceded in death by seven siblings, Will Emmett Johnson, Audrey Taylor, Howard Johnson, Lorene Maze, Hershel Johnson, Ralph Johnson, and Cumie Putnam.
Herbert was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from DuPont with over 30 years of service. He was ordained as a deacon at Hickory Valley Baptist Church. He also served as a deacon at Tyner Baptist Church and Woodland Park Baptist Church, where he is currently a member.
He was an avid golfer and played on the DuPont Golf Team. He enjoyed watching football but his greatest joy was spending time with family.
He was survived by his wife of 65 years, Nondas Johnson, daughter, Janet (Gary) Eslinger, grandson, Russell (Krissie) Eslinger, all of Chattanooga, great grandson, Dane Eslinger, great granddaughter, Reese Eslinger and several nieces and nephews.
A private funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 25, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Rev. Shannon O’Neal officiating.

Burial will be in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
