Grover “Birch” Jones, 50, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, in Cartersville, Georgia.  He was born in Troy, Alabama.

Birch was a 1988 Cleveland High School graduate, 1992 Carson Newman graduate and 2008 graduate of Southern Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree.

Birch was employed with 84 Lumber for 26 years, pastored The Church of the Vine in Dallas, Ga. and was currently employed with Trussway Manufacturing, Acworth, Ga.

Among Birch’s greatest joys was hunting with his Dad, fishing, and coaching his children’s sports teams.  He enjoyed going on mission trips to Honduras with his Dad who was one of the founders of the Honduras Baptist Medical Dental Evangelism Missions.  Birch was also passionate about the ministry of Lake Forest Ranch where he and his children loved to serve.  But his greatest joy was his relationship with Jesus Christ, his Savior.

“A smile that wins, a manner that takes; everywhere he goes, friends he makes.”

He was preceded in death by his father, Reverend Bert Jones in 2016.

Birch is survived by his mother, Peggy C. Jones of Chattanooga; his wife, Jennifer; his former wife, Suzanne mother of their children, Juliana (Eli) Jones - Beaton, Holt Jones, Carolina Jones, and Zac Jones; sister, Fondra (Tom) Magee; step-son, Aaron Johnson and nephews, Mason and Carson Magee.

Private graveside services will be held on Monday, May 25, at Hamilton Memorial Gardens for the family only with Reverend Bill Harvey officiating.

We respectfully request that "social distancing", wearing masks, and all CDC measures be adhered to at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Birch’s name to the Missions at Red Bank Baptist Church 4000 Dayton Blvd., Red Bank, Tn. 37415 or Lake Forest Ranch, 5326 Lake Forest Road, Macon, Ms. 39341 or www.lakeforestranch.com.
