Electrician For 45 Years Retired From Lawson Electric Company

Steve Lamar Smith, 66, of Signal Mountain, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020.

He retired from Lawson Electric Company as a job superintendent after 26 years of service where he trained and mentored countless aspiring young electricians and he was an electrician for 45 years.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, James Ray Smith, Margaret Louise Smith Yoder; brother, James Edwin “Eddie” Smith; sisters, Peggy Hardin and Shirley Hawkins; and son, Stephen Lee Smith.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Donna Smith; grandchildren, Alex and Kelsie Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Jamey and Lori Smith; several nieces and nephews as well as a host of extended family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many who will miss him terribly.  Steve will forever be known as a character!

 Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, and 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Lane Funeral Home with funeral service to follow in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home. 

Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Masks and social distancing are expected.
