George Edward Cormier, 88, of Sale Creek, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at his home surrounded by family.

George served in the Army during the Korean War and was proud to have represented his country. He worked throughout his life wearing many different hats, a "George" of all trades one could say. He began as a young man in the auto repair business at St. Yves Motor Sales in Massachusetts, he was also a skilled carpenter until an injury on the job steered him to begin a career in TV repair. George was a man of knowledge and expertise and was routinely called upon by family and friends of which he was always happy to oblige. George was funny, the kind of humor that was not always intentional but certainly left you with a chuckle and a smile. He enjoyed his NASCAR races and his daily stream of newspapers, always keeping up to date with the news around him. His kind soul was felt not only by family and friends but the furry kind who would seek shelter at his home; such as Ratchet his loyal companion for many years and most recently Kitty Kitty Kitty.

George defined many roles; a son, brother, husband and most importantly a father. His presence and ability to make one smile will be greatly treasured and missed. We as a family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga for their excellent care during such a difficult time. We are grateful and assured that our father is now reunited with our mother under the wings and protection of our Lord. Oh, and one last thing Dad, "guess what", you're home.

George was preceded in death by his wife of 58 yrs., Madeline, parents, George and Mary Helena Cormier, sister Ann Cormier and great-grandson, Jaydon Baker.

He is survived by daughters, Patricia (Philip) Baker and Donna (Mark) Wachholz; sons, Stephen (Pamela) Cormier, Kevin Cormier and Liz, all of Tennessee and Bruce (Loriann) Cormier, of Methuen, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Jeff (Heather) Baker, David Baker, Lindsay (Michael) Mallard, of Hixson, Lauren (Josh) Howard all Georgia, Daniel Cormier (fiance Ryan) and Renee Cormier all of Massachusetts.; great-grandchildren, Holden, Ellie & Dax Baker, of Sale Creek.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Services for George will be held 11 a.m. on Monday at the North Chapel with Pastor Barry Hildebrandt officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
