John Edward Stehr, of Hixson, was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, November 9, 2021.

John was born on Sept. 25, 1934 in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He was the son of Elmer Carl and Hazel Elodine Daues Stehr. He married his wife, Patricia Ann Krieger, on Oct. 14, 1956 in Cape Girardeau. John Graduated from Trinity Lutheran School, Central High School and Southeast Missouri State University. He also attended the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. He spent his entire career at A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company in Decatur, Il. He was an active member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, and son-in-law, Gordon W. Swan, Jr.

John is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Stehr; and his children, Krista (Doug) Gerhardt, of Decatur, Il., Karola Swan of Fishers, In. and Kirk (Suzanne) Stehr, of Hixson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Aidan (Bree) Gerhardt, Brittany Stehr and Kelsie Gerhardt; and great-grandson, Beckham Gerhardt.

A celebration of life church service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 20 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 3204 Hixson Pike, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415.  Family will receive visitors at 9 a.m. in the narthex of the church, and the service will begin at 10 a.m.

Memorials may be made to Concordia Seminary for the education and preparation of missionaries, 801 Seminary Place, St. Louis, Mo. 63105.
