Ty Parker
Ty Lance Parker, 52, of Hixson, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 30, 2021.
A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, he has served as music worship leader at the East Chattanooga/Redemption Point Church of God for the past 30 years.
Ty was a graduate of Hixson High School and a member of the Hixson High Alumni Hall of Fame. He attended UTC and was a part of the Singers and Singing Mocs.
He traveled the world singing for Jesus and had the opportunity to sing at the Sydney Opera House, where he received a standing ovation. He and his church choir traveled all over the country ministering to churches everywhere.
He chaired the Tennessee State Music Committee with the Church of God. He lived for his calling being a Minister of Music and loved his choir and church family dearly.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bruce and Jewell Cherry, and Rhea and Evelyn Parker.
He is survived by his wife, Neelie Parker; son, Max Parker; parents, Rawlin and Linda Parker; aunts and uncles, Vicki and Sebastien Cherry, Randy Parker, Pam Orrick and Gary Parker; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, a college fund has been set up for Ty's son, Max. Donations will be accepted through the Redemption Point Church of God at Redemptionpoint.net.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 3, at Redemption Point Church of God, 3831 Ooltewah-Ringgold Road, Ooltewah. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday before the service at the church.
All Hamilton County COVID mandates will be in place at the church which include wearing a mask and social distancing.
