Grace Evelyn Stephens Miller passed away peacefully in her Metairie, Louisiana home on July 14, 2021.  Her youngest daughter Revina was at her bedside.

She was born on Nov. 7, 1939, in Prestonberg, Ky., to Ruth Clark and was raised in Reading, Ohio by her mother, stepfather Harrison Lykins and two stepbrothers Everett and Tom who adored Grace and have passed away.

She graduated with honors in 1957 from Reading High School and soon married her childhood sweetheart Lewis J. Miller at Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, Ca.

Together Grace and Lewis raised four daughters, the second daughter Michele passed away in 2007, in Lancaster, Ca.

Grace worked as a bank teller, nurse, Los Angeles County Sheriff's department PBX operator, and real estate agent while also volunteering for her daughters school PTA and Girl Scout leader while supporting Lew as a United States Marine, Electrician and LAPD SWAT.  Eventually Grace went to work at the LA Times where she met her second husband George Steeves.  Both Grace and George enjoyed being with their grandchildren and church family from Hickory Valley Baptist Church.  Lewis and George have both passed away.

Grace loved to travel and explore the world and has traveled to Russia, Egypt, The Holy Lands, England, Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Netherlands, South America and most of the United States of America.

Grace also enjoyed antiquing, cooking, Sunday Drives and coloring. She also had a sweet tooth.

Grace is survived by her daughters, Vicki, Kimberly and Revina and her grandchildren, Jessica, Julie, Emily, Melissa, Krystal, Derek, Tori, Larissa, Alicia, Adrian and Alexandria and her great Grandchildren, Aleetha, Addison, Jayden, Morgan, Damen, Theodore, Arlo, Kaylee Sue,  Kaitylnn, Keegan, Taylor, Gavin, Hartlee, Ryder and Jace.  Her grandson Matthew has passed away.

Grace was a wonderful person, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

The definition of Grace is to get something we don't deserve.  We can never repay her, we can never replace her, but we can always remember her.

She will be missed dearly.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 23, from 4-8 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, Hixson. There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Steve McGraw officiating. The family will have a private graveside service.
