Lady Red Wolves Open Season Friday At Home

The Chattanooga Lady Red Wolves will have their season home opener and season debut versus South Carolina United in the USL Women’s League this coming Friday evening; May 20, 2022 at 7:30pm in Chattanooga at the CHI Memorial Stadium. The Lady Red Wolves are coming off of a very successful inaugural two years, as they have been the reigning Southeast Conference Champions in the WPSL for the past two seasons. The women’s team is up to the challenge of competing in the newly formed USL W league this summer.
The new league is comprised of 44 teams represented by 20 different states. The league is expected to bring a higher level of competition for the Lady Red Wolves and is part of the same USL organization that the Chattanooga Red Wolves men’s team competes in. Chattanooga Lady Red Wolves President & GM, Gretchen Hammel says, “We are thrilled about the opportunity to play in the most competitive environment that we can. We know that the teams we are competing against will be tough but, the Lady Red Wolves have something very special and we are fully confident in our ability to do well in the league.”

 
The Chattanooga Lady Red Wolves have earned recognition and media attention from all over the nation, by earning a combined total of 20 national awards in the WPSL since 2019. The Lady Wolves were recognized as the ‘most award-winning program’ in the WPSL in 2019, with awards such as, ‘Franchise of the Year, ‘Best Social-Media, and ‘Coach of the Year’ honors. Nine players from the Chattanooga Lady Red Wolves have been recognized as national WPSL All-stars. Six of those nine WPSL national all-stars will be returning to the Chattanooga Lady Red Wolves roster this season. Talent from the Lady Wolves 2022 roster will be a combined mixture of All-star veterans, fresh new local talent, and international elites. The Lady Red Wolves mission statement is to “Create opportunities for women through the sport of soccer”. The Lady Red Wolves continue accomplishing their mission year to year as the awareness of women’s soccer grows and continues to impact many female and youth soccer players in the community and around the world.

 
The Lady Red Wolves matches are an alluring venue this season as they considered one of the most talented teams in the Southeastern United States and they have been the one of the most successful post-college sports teams in Chattanooga for the past three years.
