Dec. 2 The Partnership for Families, Children and Adults will hold the third annual Nutcracker Sweets. 6-8 p.m. at the Bessie Smith Hall. The Nutcracker Sweets is a dessert sampling and silent auction featuring an array of one-of-a kind desserts prepared by local chefs from Between the Bridges Café, Cake Gallery, Chef Jernard Wells, St. John’s Restaurant and many more. Southern Coffee Service will serve up a variety of coffees to compliment the sweets. New this year is the “Sweet Feats” competition, with Times Free Press Food Editor Anne Braly judging the most deliciously creative dessert as submitted by professional chefs in the commercial category, as well as entries from “Home Chefs” in the non-commercial category. Chattanooga State instrumental and vocal ensembles, led by Darrin Hassevoort, will provide live music for the evening. Guest tickets are $25 each. Dec. 5-14 Christmas candlelight tours at the Marsh House decorated in the style of the 1800s. Live Christmas trees will be provided by the Bob and Charlie Gilbert families. The home is on South Main Street in downtown LaFayette, across from Bi-Lo. The house will be decorated with fresh greenery and other natural decorations. Many candles will illuminate the historic antebellum home. Hosts and hostesses in period dress will welcome guests to the festivities. Hot cider and cookies will be served on the side porch. Dec. 14 "Give4" an art/music event that will feature over 40 local artists and musicians and will be raising money to help assist two local single-mother families. 1-10 p.m. at Miller Plaza Pavilion. Three previous "give" events have averaged 175 in attendance and raised over $475 for local families. Dec. 16 The Chattanooga History Center will present Downtown Lights: Remembering Christmas in Chattanooga 1876-2008 at 7 p.m. English Rose Tea Room, 1401 Market St. $12 includes a dessert and unlimited hot tea or coffee. Dr. Daryl Black, the History Center’s Curator, will facilitate. Registration deadline is Friday, Dec. 12. Dec. 18 The third annual FCA Championship Breakfast. 8 a.m. at the Chattanooga Trade and Convention Center. FCA's President and Chief Executive Officer Les Steckel will be the featured speaker. Dec. 20 The 1st annual trail of lights and Cherokee flute concert, featuring Frank Taylor, will be at Red Clay Park from 5-8 p.m. Cost is $5 per car. Dress warmly and bring a flashlight. Jan. 5 and 6 All teachers, therapists, counselors and psychologists in the region are invited to attend a free two-day autism training event. Hamilton County Department of Education and Siskin Children's Institute are partnering to present the workshop "ABA Skills Development: Behavioral Techniques and Interventions" conducted by Ron Leaf of Autism Partnership. The training will take place Jan. 5 and 6 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at Tyner Academy Auditorium, 6836 Tyner Road, Chattanooga. Participants must register by Dec. 19, for this training. Jan. 10 Feed Your Brain poetry reading at Mocha Joe's Bistro in St. Elmo, 7 p.m. Feb. 25 Siskin Hospital's Possibilities Luncheon, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Chattanooga Convention Center. The sixth annual event will feature former Florida State football player and accomplished quadriplegic, Scott Burrows.
