Hixson Home Suffers $50,000 In Fire Damage
posted February 3, 2007

No one was home and no injuries were reported in connection with a house fire in Hixson on Saturday morning.

The Chattanooga Fire Department received the alarm at 7:16 a.m. and responded with several fire companies to 5134 Barbara Court.

Battalion Chief Mack Moore said the firefighters were able to contain the fire to the front of the house, but the damage was substantial. The loss was estimated at around $50,000.

Lieutenant Henry McElvain with the Fire Investigation Division said the cause of the fire appears to be accidental, though what exactly sparked the blaze remains undetermined.

Lt. McElvain said the residents of the home had renter's insurance and would be staying with friends while repairs are made to the house.
