Wamp Says Funds In Place For Chickamauga Lock
posted February 5, 2007

Congressman Zach Wamp said Monday that the Bush budget includes funds to continue work on the Chickamauga Lock project.

He said, "Today, the $35.2 million necessary to continue the replacement of the Chickamauga Lock on the Tennessee River was included in the President's 2008 budget proposal, indicating once again that he understands the importance of this project staying on schedule.

"The work being done on the Chickamauga Lock is critical to the economic future of East Tennessee since it's a major thorough fare for commerce in the South and is absolutely essential for commercial and transportation needs.

"The 2008 funding for the Chickamauga Lock project is an extremely important step forward. As I review the remainder of the budget requests, I am optimistic and will continue to work so that the needs of Tennessee's third district are met."
