Alligator Found in Tennessee River posted March 13, 2007 A fisherman on the Tennessee River made a wild discovery over the weekend. Rhea County, tenn. Wildlife Officer Burton Capps says he shot and killed this 5-foot alligator in Rhea County Sunday. ![]() He says he killed it so it couldn't attack others. Officer Capps says he got a call around 3:30 from a fisherman who spotted the reptile lying on a log. Capps said he didn't believe it until he saw it himself.
