Police Blotter: Early Morning Donuts Keeping Up Elderly Woman
posted March 19, 2007

People "doing donuts" early in the morning on Haywood Avenue are waking up and annoying an elderly woman, police were told.

William A. Bolton said it happens 3-4 times a week between 3-5 a.m.

He said his mother, Sarah Bolton, is in her upper 80s.

It always wakes her up and is "very annoying to her," he said.

Police said they will keep a watch on the Bolton residence.

Elizabeth A. Johnson said she went to the Chop House on Gunbarrel Road and spotted her "boyfriend" there with his wife.

She said an argument ensued, and Andre Delynn Jenkins grabbed her by the left arm and dragged her out of the bar into the lobby.

She said he threw her up against a wall and began choking her. She said he tore off one of fingernails.

Police said Ms. Johnson had marks on her chest and neck and one of her fingernails was missing.

Jenkins was charged with assault.

Shajuana Dawson of Third Avenue said her neighbor, Roshell Leath, came over and accused Ms. Dawson's children of vandalizing her property.

She said one of her children told Ms. Leath to "stop talking to my Mama that way."

Ms. Dawson said Ms. Leath then pulled a large knife out of her bra and began swinging it around, asking the child "if he wanted any of this."

Police went to the Leath residence, and Ms. Leath said she had put the knife in a closet. She was charged with aggravated assault.
