Lt. Gov. Ramsey Joins Draft Fred Thompson 2008 Committee
posted March 21, 2007

The Draft Fred Thompson 2008 Committee Wednesday announced that another Tennessee officeholder has joined the effort to urge the former Tennessee senator to seek the Republican nomination for President.

Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey, the first Republican lieutenant governor in Tennessee since 1867, will become a founding member of the committee, which was announced Monday by the co-chairmen, Congressmen John Duncan and Zach Wamp.

"I can think of no better American to become our President than Fred Thompson," said Lt. Gov. Ramsey. "He is a thoughtful, articulate conservative who has the skills required to bring our country together in difficult times."

Rep. Wamp said, "Lt. Gov. Ramsey's leadership and enthusiasm are invaluable. As conservative leaders from across the country voice their support for Fred Thompson, I'm especially proud to be joined by another great Tennessean in issuing this important call to one of our own."

Rep. Duncan said, "Ramsey's addition to the committee sends a clear message that leaders at every level of government who know Fred well, know the tremendous job he would do as President."
