Gang Problem, What Gang Problem?
posted March 23, 2007

No wonder we cannot get a big deal like a Toyota plant in Chattanooga. I bet they come here, see the roaming gangs, the sad state of affairs at the local schools and head to Mississippi.

What is the definition of a gang, Mayor Ramsey? I bet it is large groups of young people or any age with nothing better to do than go somewhere public and cause problems. It may not be racial, drug related or turf wars but they are gangs.

They are chasing away tourists and locals from the best parts of the city. When will the city take this seriously and keep them out or make serious arrests. Be preventative not reactive. Put police all over Coolidge Park until they move off elsewhere.

Have the churches down there evangelizing and those youth will run for the hills. Have the blood donation vehicles there for community service volunteers and they will stay away in droves.

Don’t wait to get a specific definition of “gangs” before acting. There is a problem right now and it affecting the whole city. And not for the good.
