Vacant Complex Is Owned By CNE

The Chattanooga Fire Department responded with nine fire companies to an apartment fire at 3919 Manor Dr. on Saturday afternoon.
Captain Bonita Owens with Quint 13 said she could see smoke on the way to the scene, and saw flames coming from windows and the roof upon arrival. Once on the scene, the firefighters worked quickly in attacking the fire.
Firefighters used hand-held hose lines, and set up aerials and used master streams on the blaze. Flames extended across the adjoining attic and roof.
The vacant apartment complex is owned by Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise (CNE). CNE representatives Ruben Turner and Mike Jones were at the scene.
A city police officer reported that he was able to see into the burning apartment before firefighters arrived, and stated that it appeared that someone had been living in it.
Neighbors also reported that the apartments had been frequented by vagrants.
Firefighters contained the fire and prevented it from spreading to other buildings.
The fire happened around 5:40 p.m. No injuries were reported.
Estimated damages are not available yet, but the buildings appear to be a total loss.
Captain Lesley Morgan, with the fire investigation division, is investigating the cause of the fire.
Quint 2, Engine 4, Engine 5, Ladder 5, Quint 13, Squad 3, Quint 8, Engine 9, Engine 15, Chattanooga Police, Hamilton County EMS, and Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue assisted on the scene.
