When Notre Dame’s Kindal Jumper goes to college next fall, she will not go alone. Instead, she will be taking three horses with her. Kindal recently accepted a rodeo scholarship to Missouri Valley College in Marshall Missouri, just outside Kansas City. Missouri Valley is a private Presbyterian college with about 2,000 students.

Kindal will live in the dorm and her horses will be boarded at the school’s barn. As a member of the Missouri Valley team, she will compete in barrel racing, breakaway roping, and goat tying. She plans to major in biology.

Everyone at Notre Dame knows that 5’ 1” Kindal drives a Ford 350 King Ranch Dually pick-up truck that barely fits into her assigned parking space. “What most people don’t know is that a least three times a week, Kindal hitches her horse trailer to that truck and drives 45 minutes away to practice her rodeo skills for about four hours,” said Kindal’s father, Ben Jumper.

Kindal has participated in rodeo for the past six years, previously in the Georgia Jr. High School Rodeo Association and currently in the Georgia High School Rodeo Association. She is the current State Champion Barrel racer, a title she also held last year.
