Police Blotter: Spurned Dancer Involved In Stabbing At Club
posted June 5, 2007

Police said a man who wanted to cut in on a dance at a local club and was denied became enraged and beat and cut a man.

Ramon Silinas said he was dancing with a woman at La Marcarena 2 on E. 28th Street Place. He said a man he knows as "Chewy" asked to dance, but he told him no.

He said the man responded by hitting him with a chair, then started throwing beer bottles at him. He grabbed a broken beer bottle and came at him, stabbing him on both sides of his face and on the back. He then kicked him in the stomach as he lay on the floor.

Police said the victim had a severe cut on the left side of his face as well as other injuries.

Witnesses said the man involved in the assault left on foot. They said he came in a 1995 GMC Sierra that was still parked at the club.

Police said the vehicle traced to a man living in an apartment on McBrien Road in East Ridge.

Phillip Daniels said he was out walking on E. 17th Street when three black males pushed him down and began kicking him in the body and face.

They robbed him of $220 before taking off.

Police said the victim had injuries to his face and chest. He was taken to Erlanger Medical Center by ambulance.

Police said while they were investigating, a taxi pulled up and a man who matched a description of one of the suspects got out. The victim made a positive identification of Frederick Bradford, and he was held for questioning. Police said he had an active warrant.

A man said he was sitting in his car at an ATM at the AmSouth Bank near Lee Highway and Highway 153. He said he was checking the balance in his account when a white male with a blue or black bandana over his face leaned over his front hood.

The man was armed with two shotguns, and he pointed them at the man at the bank, telling him, "This is a robbery, b----. I'll kill you."

The driver said he quickly placed the vehicle in drive and lurched forward, striking the robber. He turned right, went over a curb, then down an embankment.

He wound up at the on ramp to Highway 153.

He said he could see the robber in his rear-view window walking up the embankment as he sped away.
