Ivy Street House Suffers Extensive Fire Damage posted June 24, 2007
At 1 a.m., Chattanooga firefighters were dispatched to the house fire at 2213 Ivy. Upon arrival, Captain Scott Davis of Engine 5 reported a working structure fire with flames coming through the roof. Hose lines were laid from the engine and firefighters made an interior attack of the structure. Due to the close proximity of nearby houses, an extra engine company was dispatched to assist in exposure protection. Protective hose lines were placed in operation to protect nearby structures. The fire was declared under control at 1:35 a.m. The fire appeared to have started in the rear of the structure and spread into the attic. The residence sustained extensive fire, smoke and water damage. The resident of the house was not at home at the time of the fire. Damages were estimated at $40,000. There was no damage to any adjoining structures. No injuries were reported. Engine 4, Engine 5, Engine 15, Ladder 5 and Squad 1 were dispatched to the fire. Assistance was given by the Chattanooga Police Department and Hamilton County EMS. |
