WDOD Middle Tower Falls posted June 25, 2007 The middle tower for Chattanooga's oldest radio station fell Sunday night, but the station was able to return to the air and was broadcasting the Lookouts on Monday night. Parks Hall, an engineer who worked for WDOD for 32 years and retired in 1995, said the tower had been up since the early 1940s. The one that fell may have been moved from Brainerd around the airport in 1939 and rebuilt here in 1941. Early in WDOD's life, it was broadcasting from atop the Patten Hotel before the tower was built. WDOD first signed on in 1925. 1 | 2 | 3 | Next>> ![]() Photograph by Brent McDonald, Channel 9 |
