Briggs Construction Equipment is hosting a Case Rodeo Series event at their location at 4075 South Access Road on Saturday, Aug. 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Officials said, "Instead of roping calves or riding bulls, this rodeo involves operating a Case Loader/Backhoe to victory in an event that pits our area’s most talented heavy equipment operators against each other in a series of three skill-testing events."
Local winners will be eligible to earn cash prizes up to $500 plus a trip to Las Vegas in 2008 to compete in the Case North American Championship Event for a grand prize Case Loader/Backhoe valued at nearly $120,000.
Officials said, "We expect more than 5,000 operators to compete in rodeos across North America, including at least 50 at our local event. There will also be demonstrations of Case equipment and activities for families, guests, and other spectators."
Briggs will be making a $1,000 contribution to the local Habitat for Humanity which will be presented to encourage attendees from the construction industry to participate in volunteer efforts for the organization. The check presentation will take place at the end of the competition during the Awards Ceremony.
