Market Street Bridge Grand Reopening Celebrations Finalized
posted July 31, 2007

From live bands to lively demonstrations like fly fishing, belly dancing and bagpipes, the Market Street Bridge grand reopening will be the spot that rocks on Saturday.

In addition to the merchants, eateries, music and activities on the bridge, the riverfront and North Shore will be hopping with a sidewalk sale, storytelling, more music and Dragon Boat races and festival. The celebration also will include a vintage scooter show at Renaissance Park.

Festivities on the bridge will conclude with a fashion show and reveal of the “Ain’t so Extreme Makeover.” Attendees will want to be sure to catch the Canine Makeover Reveal, when local shelter dog Tiramisu will be introduced and available for adoption.

The bridge day rolls into night with Riverfront Nights at Ross’ Landing near the Chattanooga Pier.

The bridge opens to traffic Sunday at 8 a.m., when a CARTA electric shuttle bus will be the first vehicle to traverse the historic Market Street Bridge from the south shore (Tennessee Aquarium side) to the North Shore via the bridge.
