Traveling Student Buys $196,000 Lottery Winner In Trenton
posted August 7, 2007

An off-road trek turned into a gigantic lottery win for one university student. Angela Cooley, 36, matched all five winning numbers in the July 28 Fantasy 5 drawing and won the $196,801 top prize.

Ms. Cooley, a University of Alabama student, was taking the scenic route home from Tennessee when she stopped for the Quik Pik ticket. Golden Gallon #3528, 190 S. Main St. in Trenton, sold the lucky numbers.

Winning numbers from the July 28 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 8-12-19-31-35.

“I was at school on the computer when I remembered my ticket,” said Ms. Cooley, a Bessemer, Ala. resident. “I checked the numbers on the Georgia Lottery website and saw that they matched.”

Seeking a doctorate degree in history, Ms. Cooley received her undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a law degree from George Washington University. She plans to pay off her student loans.

“I’m really excited about it all,” she said. “I feel lucky that this has happened to me.”

Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning top prize ticket is sold, the retailers selling the top prize winning tickets will share the bonus. Golden Gallon #3528 will receive a retailer incentive bonus of $6,000.
