South Pittsburg Mayor Mike Killian Won't Make 10th District Senate Race posted August 14, 2007 South Pittsburg Mayor Mike Killian said Tuesday morning he has decided not to enter the District 10 state Senate race. Mayor Killian said, "After spending the last several days in thoughtful consideration, I've decided that the best thing for me, my wife and children, my businesses, and the city of South Pittsburg, is that I not be a candidate for state Senate seat District 10. "I am thankful for the many calls of support I've received." That leaves Chattanooga attorney Andy Berke as the only announced candidate in the race to replace Sen. Ward Crutchfield. Both Mr. Killian and attorney Berke are Democrats. Republican Oscar Brock has said he is considering running as a Republican. The qualifying deadline is Aug. 23. |
