“Beautiful Tennessee” Airs Sunday At 5 P.M. On WTCI posted August 16, 2007 WTCI will premiere a visual tour through the state’s natural wonders as it airs “Beautiful Tennessee” at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Journeying across the state from the east to west, “Beautiful Tennessee” explores the poetic natural landscape of Tennessee and the role nature has played in shaping the history of Tennessee’s cities, the lives of its residents and the natural environment. The documentary includes emblematic stories that illustrate how Tennessee’s natural resources have shaped commerce, development and recreation while nurturing the state’s rich biodiversity, officials said. “’Beautiful Tennessee’ provides an intimate look at some of our state’s most spectacular natural sites,” said Paul Grove, WTCI president and CEO. “Tennessee is truly gifted with incredible natural beauty, and it’s really a joy to showcase it. This special further indicates WTCI’s commitment to this community and the Tennessee Valley’s television viewers.” Local highlights from the program include a look at the redevelopment of Chattanooga’s waterfront including the Tennessee Aquarium; a visit to the Hiwassee/Ocoee Scenic River State Park, located on the southern end of the Cherokee National Forest near Cleveland; Fall Creek Falls near Pikeville, a 15,000-acre park is home to a 256-foot waterfall, the highest waterfall east of the Rocky Mountains; the South Cumberland State Park, Located along the southern section of the Cumberland Plateau in Monteagle; the Hiwassee River valley representing a significant settlement for the Cherokee; and Ruby Falls, one of the most famous cave attractions in the South. |
