Police Blotter: Woman Tied Up, Robbed posted September 4, 2007 A woman who lives on Webb Road told police she was tied up and robbed by a couple who forced their way into her home. The woman said she heard a knock on her door about 9:30 p.m. and a white female asked if "Larry Anderson" was there. She said she did not know a Larry Anderson. She said the woman asked if she lived alone, then she left. She said the woman returned a short time later with a white male, and she asked to use a phone. The woman said she handed her a cell phone. She said the woman then asked for a phone book. She said the couple then pushed their way inside and asked where she kept her money. They followed her into a bedroom and took $80 from her purse. They also got three cordless phones. The woman said the couple then tied her up by her hands and feet on her bed using a torn blouse taken from a closet. The couple told the woman someone would be watching her house, and she would get hurt if she called police. She took about 15 minutes getting loose, then called police. * * * Two bail bondsmen said they were assaulted while trying to bring in a fugitive. Billy Teague and George Mathis of Tucker Bail Bonds said they spotted Robert E. Moore in a tan Chevy S10 pickup truck on Lee Highway. It was being driven by Carolyn Richie, they said. Mr. Mathis said he tried to pull Moore from the vehicle, but he struggled and got the door shut. Moore then yelled for the driver to ram the bondsmen's vehicle, and Ms. Richie put her pickup in reverse. She slammed into the 1998 Isuzu Rodeo's front bumper, doing $400 in damage. The bondsmen said she then revved the vehicle as if she was going to run over Mr. Teague. He jumped out of the way, and the pickup sped off. * * * Jennie Hull said she was out back at Chattanooga Flowers on East Brainerd Road taking a smoke break when a projectile came through the trees near her. She found it was a .45-caliber round. Ms. Hull said she didn't hear the sound of anyone firing. * * * Police said a teacher at East Lake Elementary School was assaulted and cursed by an eight-year-old student. Megan Blazek said she was trying to break up a fight when one of the boys turned on her. She said he hit her several times in the face, arms and legs. He then cursed her and ran from the school. The boy was found by his mother in the 3700 block of 14th Avenue and returned to the school. He was told he was suspended for a year. School officials said he has a history of fighting. Police said the teacher had bruises on her arms and face. * * * Oscar Valdez of Brainerd Road said he received eight money orders from "Deacon George Useh." He didn't know Useh so he wondered if they were any good. Wal-Mart officials gave him the bad news that they were fake. * * * Francesca Sales of 12th Avenue informed police she had locked her keys in her residence. She asked if officers would get a ladder, climb on the roof, get in through a window, then open the door. Officers got the ladder, climbed on the roof, got in through a window, walked downstairs and let her in. * * * Chris Leek said he saw two children who looked to be about 2-3 years old walking by themselves down E. 20th St. Louise Dunn, who lives in the same neighborhood, said she then saw "a woman walking frantically down the same street." Demetric Crockett said her little son and daughter unlocked the front door and took off while she was in the shower. The children were found unharmed. * * * Paul Yates said he rented a room with two white females at the Motel 6 on Lee Highway. He said things were going fine when he was in the shower with one of the ladies. Mr. Yates said he later went to the store to get a paper, and he discovered he was missing $200. He said he returned to the motel and found both women departed. He figures that while he was in the shower with one of the women that the other one was going through his billfold. |
