CSO Classic Run Is Sept. 15
posted September 4, 2007

The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Guild’s Nineteenth Annual Symphony & Opera Classic Run will be Saturday, Sept. 15, in Coolidge Park.

Race day registration begins at 7 a.m., and a cymbal crash by CSO Executive Director John Wehrle will get the race off to a bang at 8:30 a.m.

Proceeds from the 5K event will benefit the CSO Guild Sally Brewer Scholarship program for local young musicians.

Online registration is available at www.active.com, and printable forms are available at www.chattanoogatrackclub.org. Registration is $15.

The course begins and ends at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre and loops through Heritage Landing. Walkers are welcome, but no pets or strollers. All registered participants receive T-shirts, and prizes are awarded to overall and bracket winners, male and female.

Event chairs for this year’s race are CSO Guild members Marianne Douglas, Cynthia Fagan and Kris Mercer.

“The Symphony & Opera Classic Run is a local favorite, as the course has no big hills and is normally closed to runners” said Ms. Mercer. “The race usually attracts about 220 runners, and we hope to draw an even larger crowd this year.”

To register or volunteer at the event, please call 697-3807, email csoclassicrun@yahoo.com, or visit the Chattanooga Track Club’s website at www.chattanoogatrackclub.org
