Vacant House On Manning Street Burns

A vacant house on Manning Street in North Chattanooga suffered extensive fire damage early Sunday morning.

The Chattanooga Fire Department responded to the fire at 301 W. Manning St. at 3:14 Sunday.

Quint 12 arrived on the scene within six minutes of the alarm.

The structure was reported to be vacant, but firefighters were told that someone had been seen around the house around midnight, prompting firefighters to perform an interior search.

After the primary search, it was determined that there was no one inside the residence and the fire was brought under control in minutes.

Damage to the house was estimated to be around $100,000.

The vacant structure did not have power.

Cause of the fire has not been determined and is under investigation by fire investigators.

Quint 1, Quint 2, Quint 12 and Squad 1 responded to the alarm. Chattanooga Police and Hamilton County EMS also responded to the alarm and provided assistance.
