The Health Ethics Trust, a division of The Council of Ethical Organizations, named Vicky Gregg, president and CEO of BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, as its 2007 Fellow of the Trust for her accomplishments and leadership in advancing health care ethics and compliance.
The annual award is given on the basis of a record of sustained leadership with respect to health care compliance over the course of the recipient’s career. The Fellow of the Trust award was established in 1996, as a means to recognize outstanding ethics and compliance performance. It identifies best practices that have been tested by leading organizations and reviewed by peers. Ms. Gregg is only the third health care CEO to receive this distinguished national award.
“Ms. Gregg has provided distinguished leadership in making BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee an ethically outstanding organization committed to doing right with respect to all of its constituencies,” said Mark Pastin, president of the trust.
Previous fellows include the former Inspector General of the United States Department of Health and Human Services and the former head of criminal investigations at the Federal Bureau of Investigations.
“This award is a reflection of our team efforts and the high level of ethics and compliance that we embrace at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee,” Ms. Gregg stated.
The Health Ethics Trust provides advisory services, a full agenda of educational programs and conferences, and training program design and delivery. The purpose of the Health Ethics Trust is to assist health care organizations committed to ethical and legal conduct in coping with compliance requirements through education programs, research and shared resources. The Trust’s on-going research program includes an extensive study of health care compliance programs.
