Mayor Ron Littlefield announced Monday that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

According to Mayor Littlefield’s physician, the diagnosis has been made early and the prognosis is positive.

Mayor Littlefield will be continuing a series of tests and will undergo treatment before the end of the year. A full recovery is expected.

Mayor Littlefield said, “Please know that we will move forward with business as usual during this time. I am expecting a full recovery and encourage men to talk to their doctors about prostate cancer and to undergo tests for early detection.”

It was announced in late August that Police Chief Freeman Cooper had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Mayor Littlefield, a Brainerd resident, is 61.
