Five Jets To Help Habitat For Humanity Mark 20th Anniversary
posted October 24, 2007

The Five Jets shared the stage with Carl Perkins, Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and others, but on Nov. 1, they will help Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga celebrate 20 years of building hope, homes and community.

The Five Jets, later called the Jets, were a popular draw on the Southeastern Club Circuit and beyond between 1955 and 1971, when they parted ways to raise families, and pursue careers - some musical and some not. Several band members - Kenneth Lovelace (a member of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame) and Marty Morrison have been closely associated with Jerry Lee Lewis.

The band recently recorded a new album - Together Again, in partnership with Jimmy Johnson, and Swamper Studios of Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

Habitat's 20th Anniversary Celebration will be held from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 1, at the Chattanooga Convention and Trade Center. The evening will feature recognition of people and organizations who have supported Habitat's work in Chattanooga, entertainment by the Five Jets, and announcements of new Habitat initiatives.

Tickets for the dinner are still available. Individual tickets are $25, a table for eight is $250, and event sponsorships, including seats for 16 guests are $1,000. To reserve seats or a table please call Royce Durden at 756-0507 by 5 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga is a faith-based non-profit organization dedicated to transforming Chattanooga by helping low-income families attain homeownership. Since 1986, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga has built 203 homes here, and 106 more overseas. More information is available at www.habichatt.org.
