An autopsy was underway Saturday afternoon for a body that was found Friday near 3430 Plumwood Dr.
Examiners have determined that it is the body of a male.
The age, race and manner of death is still not known.
Due to the extensive manner of investigation for making the determinations, some details may not be known for some time, officials said.
The human skull was found by a man walking through the woods.
Police went to the scene and the Major Crimes Division was assigned the investigation.
A cadaver dog was brought in to help with the search for remains, and the site was taped off.
