Fire caused substantial damage to a house early Thursday morning.

The Chattanooga Fire Department received the alarm at 3:17 a.m. and responded to 3107 8th Ave. with four fire companies. Lt. Chris Rader with Engine 9 said the house was engulfed in flames when the first firefighters arrived on the scene. Lt. Rader said it took about 15 minutes to get the fire under control. The dollar loss was estimated at around $60,000.

No one was home and no injuries were reported. Neighbors said the house was in the process of being renovated. At the time of this release, fire investigators were on the scene trying to determine what started the blaze.
