Samantha Gilley Near End Of Ride To Memphis
posted November 5, 2007

Chattanooga Valley's Samantha Gilley is closing in on the finish line.

Samantha, a blind, nine-time cancer survivor who began riding her bike from Chattanooga last week to raise money for St. Jude Children's Hospital, will arrive in Memphis on Monday morning. The total length of the ride will be right at 400 miles.

On Sunday she rode from Whiteville to Eads.

Monday morning at 10 a.m., a group of riders, including Samantha, will meet at the BP in Eads on Airline Road. With police escort, the group will then ride to the end point of the ride, Overton Park in Memphis.

From Overton Park, the group will then jump into cars and head over to St. Jude for a tour guided by Samantha.

Since having been treated at St. Jude her whole life, Samantha wanted to do this to raise money to give back to the hospital that she says "gave her life."
