Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum Holiday Events
posted November 7, 2007

This year the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum is bringing back two favorites - the Christmas Dinner Train Ride and North Pole Limited Ride.

Travel back to a more simple time aboard a vintage train for the Christmas Dinner Train Ride. The Museum offers this unique opportunity for patrons to enjoy a rail excursion and fine dining along the way. All trips include a four-course dining experience aboard a restored 1924 dining car.

Patrons may select from the standard hour-and-forty-five minute trip on Dec. 1 and 8, or the expanded four-hour trip on Dec. 15.

Choose from true vintage dining in the Dining Car (four to a table), semi-private dining in the Clover Colony, or the Eden Isle Office Car #98 for private parties up to eight. The Office Car boasts a dining room, lounge area and rear observation platform. Prices range from $70 per person to $800 per group for the Office Car.

Reservations are encouraged as these trips fill quickly. While purchasing tickets, patrons may select their entrée of beef, chicken or fish.

Since 1999 the Museum has carried children to the North Pole for a visit with Santa Claus, and this year will be no exception. This event is designed for family fun and includes a one hour, 15 minute adventure on the train with storytelling, refreshments, holiday lighting, singing and more.

When the train arrives at the "North Pole" (East Chattanooga Depot in disguise), you'll see Santa waving. As the train stops so that the locomotive can turn on the turntable, Santa will board the train and greet the children before traveling back to Grand Junction Station.

Tickets for the North Pole Limited Ride are available now with many dates selling out quickly. Rides begin on Nov. 23 and continue through Dec. 22. Call for available dates and times. Tickets are $20 for kids of all ages (children under one year of age ride free.)

The Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum was founded in 1961 by a small group of local residents with a mission on to preserve, restore and operate historic railway equipment. TVRM is a non-profit, educational organization and all ticket sales are for fund raising purposes to keep passenger trains running in Chattanooga.
