Fred Thompson Includes Rep. Eric Watson, Wamp, Corker As Honorary State Chairman

Former Sen. Fred Thompson announced his Tennessee political leadership team, including Sen. Bob Corker, Rep. Zach Wamp and state Rep. Eric Watson as honorary state chairmen and former Sen Howard Baker as the honorary chairman of the Tennessee delegatio.

The leadership team includes two former United States Senate majority leaders, current and former members of Congress and former governors.

"I feel it's a great honor to be chosen by Fred Thompson to serve on his presidential leadership team," said Rep. Watson, "This position will allow me to keep the citizens of my district informed of national political issues."

"I am grateful for the wide support I'm receiving from my home state of Tennessee," said Sen. Fred Thompson. "This group of old friends, former colleagues, and distinguished Tennesseans will provide invaluable support for my bid for the presidency."

In 2006, Eric Watson was elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives and currently sits on the Judiciary and Transportation committees. In addition to gaining national recognition for drafting legislation to protect the American flag in 2007, Watson is known for representing conservative values.

There are 13 honorary co-chairs for the Tennessee leadership. Others are Sen. Lamar Alexander, former Sen. Bill Frist; Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn and present and former Congressmen David Davis, Jimmy Duncan, Zach Wamp, Van Hilleary, Bill Jenkins, and Ed Bryant, former Govs. Don Sundquist and Winfield Dunn, and Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey.

Recently, Rep. Watson attended a campaign rally in Nevada with Fred Thompson and plans to show national support throughout the election cycle for the Thompson campaign, he said.
